This article provides an overview of the New Zealand Police Vetting Service and explains who is eligible for the service.
The New Zealand Police Vetting Service provides information on potential and current employees, volunteers, and vocational trainees who are applying for positions that involve providing care, protection, or education to vulnerable people, such as children, the elderly, or the disabled, or in government agencies or law enforcement.
The vetting process is only conducted for individuals who are providing care, protection, or education to the vulnerable as a core function of their role. Interacting with the vulnerable group as one of the activities of the applicant is not sufficient to justify vetting.
The vetting process helps to ensure that these individuals are suitable for these positions and that they do not pose a risk to the safety of others.
A Police Vet is not a National Security Clearance.
